Not sure which ring size to order? This guide shows you two reliable ways to measure at home, then converts your result across every major international sizing system. Shoppers in Dubai and Riyadh usually already know their European (EU/ISO) size — the millimetre number most GCC jewellers use — so it sits in the first column of the chart; if you know a UK, US, French, Japanese or Indian size instead, the same row gives you the exact equivalent.

How to Measure Your Ring Size at Home

Method 1: String or a strip of paper

  1. Cut a thin strip of paper or a piece of non-stretch string about 10 cm long.
  2. Wrap it snugly around the base of the finger that will wear the ring, just below the knuckle.
  3. Mark the exact point where the end overlaps, then lay the strip flat and measure up to the mark in millimetres.
  4. Find that measurement in the inner circumference (mm) column of the chart below — the same row shows your size in every system.

Method 2: Measure a ring you already own

  1. Choose a ring that fits the intended finger well.
  2. Place it on a ruler and measure the widest inside distance, edge to edge, in millimetres — excluding the metal band. This is the inner diameter.
  3. Match that measurement in the inner diameter (mm) column below to read your size.

Tips for an accurate fit

  • Measure at the end of the day, when fingers are at their largest.
  • Avoid measuring cold hands. Fingers can shrink by up to half a size in air-conditioned rooms — measure when your hands are warm.
  • The knuckle rule: if your knuckle is clearly wider than the base of your finger, measure both and choose a size in between, so the ring slides on but does not spin.
  • Measure two or three times and keep the reading that repeats. A snug wrap gives a truer result than a tight one.

French and German sizes are circumference-based, like EU/ISO. Japanese, Indian and Hong Kong scales are closely aligned; values shown are the closest standard size, and a dash means that system has no standard size that large.

Most Common Ring Sizes in the GCC

Ordering a surprise? Women in the GCC most commonly wear EU 50–54 (US 5.25–7), and men EU 60–64 (US 9.25–10.75). If measuring is truly impossible, EU 52 for women and EU 62 for men are the safest starting points.

I'm between two sizes — should I size up or down?

Choose the larger size. A slightly loose ring can be sized down more easily than a tight ring can be stretched up, and it will still pass comfortably over your knuckle. This is also the approach our resizing policy recommends.

How do I find my partner's ring size without ruining the surprise?

Borrow a ring they already wear on the intended finger and measure its inner diameter in millimetres, or trace the inside of the ring on paper and measure the circle. You can also ask a family member or friend discreetly. If all else fails, women in the GCC most commonly wear EU 50–54 and men EU 60–64 — and eligible styles can be resized once, free, within 30 days of delivery.

Are ring sizes different in Dubai and Saudi Arabia?

No. Jewellers across the UAE, Saudi Arabia and the wider GCC use the European (EU/ISO) system, where the size equals the inner circumference in millimetres. Your size in Dubai is the same in Riyadh, and this chart applies in every GCC country.
